Are you tired of the same old kitchen routine? Want to add some zest to your meals without compromising on health? Look no further because today, we’re diving deep into the world of spiralizers. Whether you’re a seasoned spiralizer pro or a complete newbie, we’ve got the inside scoop on this kitchen gadget that’s taking the culinary world by storm.
Product Overview – OXO Spiralizer
Let’s kick things off by talking about the star of the show – the OXO Spiralizer. This nifty gadget is designed with user-friendliness in mind. Its sleek and minimalistic design won’t take up valuable kitchen real estate, making it perfect for those with limited countertop space (kudos, OXO).
The spiralizer comes with multiple blades that are like the superheroes of the kitchen. Seriously, you can go from thin noodles to wide ribbons with just a twist (pun intended). Switching blades is a breeze, and the secure grip ensures that even the slipperiest of veggies stay put.
Key Features – OXO Spiralizer
- Create uniform spirals from fruits and vegetables. Use it for curly fries, salads, garnishes, and more.
- BPA free.
- Three stainless steel blades. Used to create various cuts, such as a spaghetti cut.
- The removable blade box keeps blades clean and safe when not in use. They are placed on board for easy storage.
- A food holder with sharp teeth holds food securely while spiralizing and is dishwasher-safe.
- Once the fruit or vegetable is placed, you spiralize by rotating the handle. The side handle advances fruits and vegetables through blades and folds up for compact storage.
Performance & Usability
Watching my vegetables get spiralized is mesmerizing! I’ve always wanted to try making ‘zoodles’ (zucchini noodles). The first dish I made, however, was a plate of sweet potato noodles since that was what I had on hand when this got delivered. It churned out noodles that were of the perfect thickness (see photos). I also used the OXO Spiralizer to make oven-baked shoestring fries! It’s so delicious, simple, and healthy.
I do have 2 issues, albeit minor. One is with the suction. It works ok, but it does lose suction, causing me to constantly readjust its spiraler. The other is with the wastage. There is a lot of wasted food. I hate throwing out food, so I usually save it and freeze it until I have enough to make soup.

Storage:
- I appreciate that this device stays locked in place thanks to the built-in suction cups at the bottom. Switching between blades is easy. The storage mechanism is ingenious as well! I’ve never been let down by the product made by OXO Good Grips.
- Easy storage. Requires little space to put away.
Cleaning:
- Easy to take apart to clean.
- The blades are dishwasher-safe. If not, brush clean them as the blades are very sharp.
Versatility:
- Works very well with cucumbers, zucchini, red onions, potatoes, and carrots.
- Regarding ease of use, it is effortless, straightforward, and fun.
Build & Ease Of Use:
- I am unhappy with the large section that came out, which is well-spent.
- The suction held tight to my countertop for the first few months and stopped working. So now, hold it tight against the counter with my hand as I turn it.
- The OXO Spiralizer comes with built-in suction cups on the bottom to lock it in place. This is a great idea, but it does lose suction at times, and I had to constantly readjust.
Wastage:
- There is a bit of wastage, depending on my spiraling.

Healthy Eating Made Fun: It’s fun; this is the best feature for me. Let’s face it: veggies aren’t always the most exciting part of a meal. The OXO Spiralizer makes healthy eating fun and appealing. Kids and adults alike will enjoy devouring those colorful, spiralized creations.
Cons
Counter Cling: While it does come with suction cups to keep it in place, some users have reported that it may still slide around a bit during use. I have to constantly readjust as it keeps moving and losing suction. Make sure your countertop is dry and clean to minimize this issue.
Waste: There is food wastage. I know this can’t be helped with these types of gadgets. However, it is more than I would have liked. I find creative ways to use the leftover veggie or fruit.
Versatility & Recipes:
Wow, let me count the ways! There are so many things you can do. I love making zucchini pasta. The versatility is a great feature of the spiralizer. You spiral an extensive range of vegetables and fruit.
Pickle Meter
I gave the OXO Spiralizer 4 out of 5 pickles. The Features, as discussed, are awesome. I wanted do give it 5 out 5. However, because the suction cup loses grip at times, it loses a pickle.
Final Thoughts – OXO Spiralizer: Yay or Nay
So, is the OXO Spiralizer worth the investment? In a word: Absolutely!
Aside from the fact that it is a lot of fun. It is good value for the money.
